Raft Building
Budding Engineers and Waterbabies combined
Logs, barrels, a bit of rope and some paddles… are you ready to create a raft that will help you to escape the shores of Lake Windermere.
Design and construct your your craft in teams of four -
Once you are confident with your design, prepare for sea (lake) trialls.
When the teams are ready you will be issued with a rationed amount of materials and limited amount of time to create a functioning water craft.
When your time runs out it is time for the testing phase, can your boat stand up to the rigorous testing on Lake and can your team complete the challenges.

"Go For It!" is our challenge activty day for larger groups. It finishes with Raft Building races to establish the winner, however the winner is likley to be the team who does the best at the challneges throughout the day and therefore has the most money to spend on Raft Building resources. Raftbuilding is great for all ages combining, engineering, construction, coordination and sence of humour tests in the 2 hours of activty.
Expect to get wet if your skills are not up to scratch - very wet!

Raft Building + Canoeing
Get out on the water for the whole day, combining Canoeing and Raft Building at our site based at the South end of Lake Windermere.
The cafe at Fell Foot National Trust Park sells cake and sandwiches, alternatively there are some cracking spots to have a picnic between your activites. Be prepared to get wet, it would be worth bringing a spare pair of clothes to change into mid-day.

Have a ship-wrecked experience during this fun activity day based at our South Windermere site.
The first dilema is how are you going to leave the Lake shores using these logs and barrels.
Together you will build a raft and then put her to 'Lake trials’. Learn the skill of being able to light a fire using a spark and wood splitting, all of this helping you to create a feast lunch of pizzas or bread and other yummies!

This is good for those who want to be competitive!
Within each team you must decide how to delegate to complete as many mini challenges as possible. There are some more sedate mind-bending challenges and some more active orienteering-style challenges for the more energetic. Points accumulated go towards the final head-to-head challenge, building a raft and hoping it doesn’t sink during its water trials!
